Friends, Carafes, and the Infinite Corridor

Friends, Carafes, and the Infinite Corridor (Note: to everyone who has emailed or commented with questions, I got your messages! I will reply in detail soon. Thanks!) This has been a busy week. Yeah, there were p-sets, but there were also crazy kitties. It rained for the majority of the week and everyone generally stayed indoors ah, New England weather. More time to do homework? Something like that. While I rested most of the weekend, Sunday proved interesting. Join me for brunch, electronics, and numerous hijinks involving Tetazoa and long hallways. ;-) After an aborted hall photo that saw us walking all the way to the Z Center with nothing to show for it, I headed up Mass Ave to Sidney Street, the location of the ubiquitous Star Market and the [emailprotected]. Gregs mom, Diane, was staying there for Family Weekend and had some extra brunch vouchers. I dined with her, Greg, and Christina. (Its about a fifteen minute walk from East Campus.) The food was pretty good! I had my first omelette since coming to MIT, so that was very nice. We then moseyed over to the Swapfest at Albany and Vassar Streets. Several times per year, a swap meet-style event takes place where you can get all kinds of obscure electronics and computer equipment for really low prices. They borrow a parking lot and some other nearby space, and set up shop around the liftgates of pickup trucks and sport-utes. I got an older machine suitable for a server, with delivery to my dorm, for a mere $10! You have entered the Dollar Zone! ! ! Oh, mercy! Who could this possibly be? Never will I know with that MASK aka turtleneck. And yes, only at MIT can you walk past Building 32 (yeah, fine, the Stata Center) on a daily basis. ;-) Back at East Campus, Greg basks in the ambient light of his new $3 construction lamp, acquired at the Swapfest. Alas, basking blondes are no match for pillows in flight. Back on Tetazoo, I met up with a certain Tim. You see, this fellow has a passion for playing instruments, particularly copper pipes from unknown construction sites. He has seven distinct notes that he plays, and hes got this ridiculously low voice to go along with them. Tim wanted to demonstrate his musical prowess to a wide audience, so I donned my corridor gear and gathered Ben and Hannah for a little excursion through MITs internal highways and byways. Ingredients: modified dorm room chair outfitted with Rollerblade wheels, copper pipe, coffee carafe, and a camera. ;-) The carafe acted as a prop to distract onlookers. (Thanks to Hannah for the photos.) Its important to keep in mind the loud harmony of Tims pipe as accompaniment to the chair-rolling and general carafe mayhem. We reached the top floor overlooking Lobby 7, at 77 Mass Ave MITs front entrance. Tims piping ability resonates quite soundly through the lobby. Confused tourists and pedestrians were pondering the lobbys new orchestral feature for several minutes. (Sound Recordings One, Two) Thats Tim lurking behind a pillar. Heres Greg again he sauntered in to enjoy the tunes with us, and brought his hallmate from Fifth East, David Sheets. We got Tim down from the top level for some wet-floor chair rolling and pipe playing, along the slick surface of Lobby 7. Thats Ben commanding the ship from behind. With my and Bens assistance, Tim plays his way down the Infinite, attracting quite the looks from passers-by. Here, Tim serenades Lobby 10 demonstrators as he passes. Theres Dean Redwines office This staircase leads to the basement and provides an interesting acoustic environment. Ben such a showoff. ;-) Yes, the Infinite is quite long. Tims still going! Ah, the Ellen Swallow Richards Lobby, near the Math Department. Tims horn works wonders. We ventured out onto Killian Court (in front of Building 10) for some outdoor pipe playing. Tim and his horn they make a majestic duo. Ben observes from a distance, atop a statue. I look ridiculous! But thats the whole point. Tim found a new perch. Understandably, all of this fanfare on Killian Court attracted some attention. Several tourists and visitors made their way over to investigate and marvel at our ingenuity. They took several pictures to bring back for the family albums. This man remarked that Tims pipe utterance strongly resembled that of an Alpine horn. We investigated the acoustic properties of another statue on the Court, but first had to establish the location of a prop. He is ecstatic! Apparently the statue was cold and it felt interesting on his back. The carafe was empty. Back indoors, we explored a hallway in Building 14 near the Hayden Library. Yet another person stopped to gaze. Much later, Tim and Hannah located more pipes and tubes through which to emit musical melodies. And then I went to bed! :-) Back soon.

Prosody and its Relationship to the Divine in Longfellows The Day is Done - Literature Essay Samples

In his famous essay The Poet, Emerson claims that men who are skilled in the use of words are not true poets, saying, we do not speak now of men of poetical talents, or of industry and skill in metre, but of the true poet (qtd. in Richards, 103). And slightly later, he adds, For it is not metres, but a metre-making argument, that makes a poem (104). According to Emerson, a poet who values form over thought is not a poet at all, but rather merely a skilled manipulator of words. For him, a poet must be the articulator of some genuine thought or argument; it does not suffice to merely create a poem solely on the sound and effect of words.In 1844, the same year that Emerson published his essay, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow published The Day is Done, a poem that argues directly against the point made in The Poet. Longfellow is hyperaware of the meter, rhyme, word choice, and overall sound of his poem; in fact, those elements are what make the poem a cohesive and successful piece of work . As a result of Longfellows attention to the effect of the words and seeming disregard for what Emerson would call a metre-making argument, The Day is Done serves as a counter-argument to Emersons initial claim.Emerson seems to suggest that the true poet is he who can articulate the divine. In other words, he embraces a Romantic view of nature and language, claiming that the true poet can report the conversation he has with nature, a physical manifestation of the divine. The true poet will penetrate into that region where the air is music hear those primal warblings, and attempt to write them down (103). Longfellow attacks this claim in The Day is Done with his own treatment of the divine. In Longfellows poem, the speaker calls for a poem to be read that will bring about a divine sensibility. However, the poem that is asked for is self-referential; Longfellows poem has all of the qualities of the requested poem. If the requested poem has the power to quiet / The restless pul se of care / And come like the benediction / That follows after prayer (lines 33-36), and Longfellows poem has all the qualities of the requested poem, then by syllogism, Longfellows poem has the ability to evoke the divine. Most importantly, however, the divine is not evoked through thought or argument. Rather, the divine is evoked precisely through the effect created by word choice, rhyme, meter, and overall effect.One of the ways in which Longfellow evokes the divine through prosody is his use of the number three. The most prominent occurrence of the number three is in the stress pattern; the poem is written in trimeter, with three stresses per line. To emphasize the importance of threes, the first line of the poem has three words beginning with the letter d: day, done, and darkness. The triple alliteration in the first line, coupled with the triple stresses throughout the entire poem, draws attention to the number three a symbol of the Trinity.The only time that Longfellow interrupts the trimeter is in the first line of the sixth stanza: For, like strains of martial music (line 21). However, this interruption does not jeopardize the relationship of the poem to the Trinity in fact, it reinforces it. For the context of the line is a description of the poetry of the grand old masters (line 17) and the bards sublime (line 18). The speaker asks that the addressee of the poem read a poem that is simple and heartfelt (line 14), not like the poems of the grand old masters. Of those poems, he writes, For, like strains of martial music / Their mighty thoughts suggest / Lifes endless toil and endeavor / And to-night I long for rest (lines 21-24). Interestingly, he calls attention to the interruption in the meter through the first word, for. Playing on the similarity between for and four, Longfellow invites the reader to notice that the line about the grand old masters has four stresses, not three. The implication is that there is something unholy about that line, and more importantly about the strains of martial music. While paying homage to old poets with words like grandmasters and bards sublime, Longfellow asserts the divine quality of his own, simpler and more heartfelt poetry.Equally worthy of notice is the fact that Longfellow discredits those poets for their mighty thoughts (line 22). This line seems particularly aimed at Emerson, who writes, The thought and the form are equal in the order of time, but in the order of genesis the thought is prior to the form (103). While Emerson praises thought as the primary agent of a poem, Longfellow dismisses the grand old masters for their mighty thoughts, instead arguing for the importance of form, and more specifically the sound of language. Finally, Longfellow underscores his criticism of the grand old masters and their mighty thoughts in the phrase strains of martial music (line 21). On one hand, the alliterative m sound adds to the musical nature of the line. On the other ha nd, the trochaic phrase martial music is harsh, and evokes images of war, armies, and marching. Longfellow distinguishes the trochaic poetry of the masters from his own, more soothing poetry by frequently using iambs, as in the line, The restless pulse of care (34). The speaker suggests that the poems of the grand old masters do not possess the soothing, soporific quality he seeks; the break in trimeter and use of trochee dissociates them poetically and metaphorically from the divine.In the seventh and eighth stanzas, Longfellow presents his own representation of the poet. Whereas Emersons poet is merely a recorder of the divine, the experience of Longfellows poet is more along the lines of Wordsworths spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings discussed in his Preface to Lyrical Ballads. Longfellow writes: Read from some humbler poet / Whose songs gushed from his heart / As showers from the clouds of summer / Or tears from the eyelids start; / Who, through long days of labor / And nights devoid of ease / Still heard in his soul the music / Of wonderful melodies (25-32). Longfellows mentioning of music echoes with Emersons idea of penetrating the region where the air is music (103). However, in Longfellows poem, the wonderful melodies come from the humble poet, not from some transcendent, ethereal world. Finally, Longfellows choice of the word humbler to describe the poet evokes notions of humility and Christ, as does the line Or tears from the eyelids start (28). In contrast to Emersons poet, who merely records the divine, Longfellows poet brings about the divine through the sound of his own poetry. This point exactly is emphasized in the stanza that follows: Such songs have the power to quiet / The restless pulse of care / And come like the benediction / That follows after prayer (33-36).In following with the association of Longfellows poem with the divine, the speaker continues, Then read from the treasured volume / The poem of thy choice / And le nd to the rhyme of the poet / The beauty of thy voice (37-40). First, the treasured volume of line 37 evokes the idea of the Bible. However, the speaker does not ask for a poem to be read from the Bible, since the Bible is the word of God. Rather than asking to hear a Biblical story that is a story some great poet has transcribed from the words of God, the speaker asks to hear a poem from a humbler poet (line 25), one that can evoke divinity using only the rhyme of the poet and the beauty of [the readers] voice.Through his painstaking attention to prosaic elements such as meter, rhyme, and the overall sound of his words, Longfellow successfully refutes Emersons claim that a true poem must have a metre-making argument. Research tests these theories against several factors to provide us with a basis of knowledge and information that helps us understand the where, when, why, and how of crime including the system that is designed to control it. This research cannot be conducted without the statistics compiled, analyzed, and reported by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). In order for research to be accurate, the data used must also be accurate. Guidelines and regulations have been put into place to ensure the quality and accuracy of the data released. In order to keep up with the ever changing varieties of crime in the US, the data has become more specific and evolved into even greater detailed data sets to more accurately pinpoint causes of crime and high risk areas. Introduction In 1929, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), developed a Committee to design a system for the collection of crime statistics. This Committee defined the criminal offenses known to policing and set up a database to determine the number of arrests and non-arrests for each incident, the seriousness of the offense, how often it occurred, where such incidents took place, and the likelihood of the crime being reported, and called this Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR). Due to the differences in the way similar offenses were categorized in different states, the Committee standardized definitions for the seven crimes they determined would be reported on a national basis by which they instructed the agencies involved to report their data. Subsequently, a manual was published that specified the uniformed definitions for crimes which were categorized as Part I and Part II and the procedures required for submitting the statistics for these categories. In 1930, Congress followed up with legislation authorizing the gathering of crime data which was ultimately spearheaded by the FBI who became the clearinghouse of crime statistics. This began the much needed statistically database system that allows crime trends to be analyzed, studied, and researched and important data regarding this information released to the general public. However, in order to continue accurate reporting, the UCR has made modifications, changes, and additions to its original format. In 1952, data regarding race, sex, and age of offenders and the victims was add and made available by 1962. In 1978, Congress added arson to the categories of offenses studied which was added permanently to the UCR in 1982. In 1990, bias or racially motivated crimes were recorded along with the specific reason for the offenders prejudice which included sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, and late, physical and mental disabilities. Further, in response to the rise in gang violence, these incidents were added to the data collection in 1993. Lastly, in 2008 information regarding human trafficking and prostitution offenses were required to be reported. Despite all of these changes and additions in order to change with the trends of criminology and get a better picture of the crime affecting our country, there are many critics of the UCR and its reliability and validity. Although the primary objective was to provide reliable and accurate statistical data for law enforcement agencies to properly and effectively operate and manage their agencies, critics constantly point out the flaws of the UCR even though they use the data provided in their research. Therefore, the FBI has come up with a new, arguably improved, and more detailed reporting system known as the National Incident-Base Reporting System (NIBRS) But the questions remain, is NIBRS really more reliable than UCR, does it provide a more accurate reporting system, and how does this affect criminal justice research? Literature Review Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) Statistical data provided by the agencies involved is reporting to the UCR is imparative for criminal justice research. These agencies voluntarily provide information based on the legislative reporting requirements and guidelines set forth for reporting of crime data. The data received from the agencies is reviewed by FBI staff to ensure its compliance with the reporting guidelines and regulations and for accuracy and reliability. It is then entered into a national database which is subsequently distributed by the FBI in various media forms and publications. There are three units that are involved in the management of the UCR program and they are the Crime Statistics Management Unit(CSMU), the Criminal Justice Information Services Audit Unit, and the Multimedia Productions Group. Specific data collections  can be requested in order to receive a specific set of data specific to your research design. To ensure quality in the data provided there are several procedures followed by the FBI. The CSMU staff is responsible for the initial review of the data that is received to ensure that it complies with the UCR policy, definitions, principles, and consistency of methodology established for statistical analysis and data collection. If there are errors in the information, the submitting agencies are contacted for clarifications or changes. Once these initial processes are complete, this unit then looks for logical consistency, reasonableness, sound estimation methodologies, monetary submission standards for property crimes, and other editing functions. The next step is the Criminal Justice Information Services Audit Unit who uses Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) every three years to ensure the state agency is following proper UCR guidelines. The purpose of QARs is to: â€Å"Ensure that agencies data are compatible with UCR standards. Identify strengths and weaknesses in an agencys reporting methods, thereby helping the agency to improve the accuracy of its crime data. Assess the validity of an agencys crime statistics. Assist agencies through feedback and identification of UCR records management needs. † (FBI, 2014) This 5 step process concludes the accuracy and reliability testing. In order to provide uniformity in reporting, the FBI trains the various reporting agencies in the data collection process, definitions, and how to report this information once compiled. There is a specialized support team that can be consulted should any questionable situation arise. This goes a long way in ensuring that the data reported is done so in the same manner across the board in an effort to provide the most reliable of statistics. When the information is released to the public,all documentation regarding how the data was collected, the methodology used, variables considered, and the tables and charts used to come up with the results of each study can be requested and is supplied to provide transparency. However, this rigorous review process is not without fault. The use of the â€Å"Hierarchy Rule† in which only the highest scoring crime was reported in a multiple offense situation left many crimes essentially unreported. Further, researchers have consistently criticized the UCR for its inability to provide valid information that can be used as a reliable indicator of criminal trends and behaviors. The major issues were: 1. â€Å"The procedures and definitions are not consistent across agencies. 2. Many crimes are not included because citizens do not report them to the police and the likelihood of citizen reporting varies in systematic ways. 3. The police are selective in reporting crime and this filtering process is biased (not constant across social groups or areas). 4. Some agencies do not report or report incompletely, and missing data are poorly documented. 5. The major data collections do not provide information on the characteristics of offenders (such as age, race, and gender), and these must be inferred from arrest data. 6. The UCR is not a statistical program in the usual sense of the term. Rather, it is a â€Å"house organ† of the police (Lejins 1966, 1016) and reflects the organizational interests of agencies that may use the data to further those interests. † (Loftin and McDowall, 2010) With these discrepancies in mind, while UCR data is in no way the most perfect of sources, it was the only source of criminal justice trends and behavior for quite some time. Researchers were consistent in their use of the data provided, while maintaining claims that the information may be skewed. Yet, the value of UCR data could be determined by coming it to surveys of victimization and offending, incident of crime surveys, and self-reporting studies. Time provided more insight into the value of UCR data, specifically when the raw data was made available and there was less possibility for researchers to manipulate the findings. This paved the way for more detailed studies on data quality issues. (Loftin and McDowall, 2010) In response, it was determined that a more detailed data system needed to be put in place to make up for the shortcomings of the UCR Summary System. This lead to the development of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) in March 1988. National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) The goal of NIBRS is to â€Å"enhance the quantity, quality, and timeliness of crime data collection and to improve the methodology used in compiling, analyzing, auditing, and publishing the collected crime statistics†. (Rantala and Edwards, 2000) Rather than follow a more summary based system of data collection, NIBRS is designed to suit the needs of the agency using it. While the collection of data and method of reporting remains the same, NIBRS compiles information from each single crime incident. This provides for a more accurate of a picture of criminal behavior, specifically when more than one crime occurs at a single incident. NIBRS requires extensive data collection of 46 Group A crimes and arrest data on an additional 11 Group B crimes. [Table 1] (Rantala and Edwards, 2000) This is far more specific and detail oriented that the UCR summary system. Benefits include the provision of information for all major current crime trends; all involved in criminal justice studies, research, and policy making have a more extensive crime data to consider; the extent and accuracy of the crime information provided by the new system better equips law enforcement agencies with the ability to request necessary resources to fight crime trends in their area; it allows agencies to find locate crime comparisons so that agencies can work together in a problem solving capacity; and, full agency participation gives a complete status of public safety in any given jurisdiction. Further, in response to the countrys war on crime, NIBRS added the Crimes Against Society category to include reports on drug offenses and terrorist activity. Lastly, crimes using computers, homicides, and 3 separate assault categories were added to the list of required information to be reported. NIBRS data systems have paved the way for new research topics to be explored, more specifically due to the difference in how crimes are classified than in UCR data. [Table 2] In-depth methodological research can be conducted which will make a large impact on the understanding of crime, criminal behavior, and crime trends in our country. NIBRS is well on its way to accomplishing its initial goals of providing a more detailed and accurate reporting system that will change the face of crime as we saw in the past. To date, because of NIBRS, new information regarding assaults, gender crime differences, and race comparisons have painted a new picture for criminal justice professionals. Conclusion Comparing the UCR summary reports and NIBRS consists of considering their â€Å"artifactual differences, non-uniform reporting practices, and reporting errors†.  (Rantala and Edwards, 2000) NIBRS expands the hotel rule and restructures specific crime definitions. It's an adverb and it modifies the verb "speak." However, when you read the whole sentence, you should notice that "consecutively" is redundant due to the phrase "for twelve hours straight." In this context, consecutively means without stopping, and the phrase "for twelve hours straight" implies that she could speak that long without stopping. Therefore, the word "consecutively" is superfluous. If you don't read the whole sentence, you might not notice the error and most likely select A. However, because the word "consecutively" is unnecessary, the correct answer is D. Additionally, some questions require you to read multiple sentences to correctly answer the questions. For example, you need the context provided by multiple sentences to answer some verb tense and paragraph order questions. Remember to do enough reading. #2: Don't Assume That There Must Be an Error Do not fear the "NO CHANGE" option. If a sentence seems fine, look at the differences between the answer choices to understand what concept the question is testing and determine whether that error is present in the original sentence. The NO CHANGE answer tends to be more common than expected if all answer choices were distributed evenly. #3: Don't Rush This tip may seem obvious, but it's important to think about as you're taking the test. Make sure you read and understand the relevant sentences and questions before marking your answer. It's better to have to guess at the end or skip the more time consuming big picture questions than to rush through questions and make careless mistakes. Check out this question that you could easily miss if you were to rush: If you're going too quickly, you may miss this relatively easy question. Perhaps you won't notice that the apostrophe comes before the "s" in "girl's" and select NO CHANGE, or you may not recognize that we're dealing with a plural possessive noun. The plural noun "faces" suggests that we're talking about more than one girl, and if you read the passage carefully, you'll know that the sentence is referring to the faces of Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths. Therefore, the apostrophe should come after the "s" to indicate plural possession. The answer is G. This question is testing a somewhat basic rule, but if you're not paying close enough attention, you can miss a question like this that you should be getting right. Make sure you identify the type of question you're being asked, and go through all the necessary steps to find the correct answer. Grammar Tips Here are some tips that focus exclusively on the grammar questions. #4: Rely on Grammar Rules to Answer Grammar Questions On the ACT English section, you should primarily use your knowledge of grammar rules to answer the grammar questions. Don't rely on your ear for what sounds right, except on idiom questions. Many correct sentences may sound wrong to you, and the ACT tests rules that are often broken in spoken and written English. Take a look at this official ACT example: If you attempt to answer this question by relying on what sounds right, you probably won't notice the error. The sentence sounds fine (at least it did to me when I first read it). However, if you rely on grammar rules to answer this question, you should first identify the underlined word as a pronoun. Whenever you see a pronoun underlined, you should check to see if there is an error in pronoun agreement. In the sentence, the pronoun "them" doesn't have a clear antecedent. The only answer choice that corrects the error is G. Here's an overview of all of the grammar rules that are tested on the ACT. #5: Some Common Errors Are Relatively Simple to Fix Some of the most common grammar errors on the ACT English section are fairly easy to fix. If you're able to identify these errors, often you can correct them with simple changes. Redundancy/Wordiness Redundancy and wordiness errors can be fixed by eliminating words or by making a sentence more concise. If a sentence makes sense without some of the underlined words, get rid of them. Here is an example: I think maybe I might possibly have met them all. F. NO CHANGE G. perhaps I've H. I've possibly J. I've By just looking at the underlined phrase, you should be able to determine that this is a redundancy question because "might" and "possibly" are synonyms, and therefore, both words aren't necessary. Additionally, the word "maybe" makes both "might" and "possibly" superfluous. All you have to do to eliminate the error is to get rid of "might" and "possibly." The correct answer is J. Unnecessary Commas Some of the comma questions on the ACT can be a little tricky and require you to know your comma rules well, but many comma questions simply require you to get rid of unnecessary commas. If you're unsure if a comma is needed, the general rule is to go with no comma. Take a look at this question: The sentence works just fine without the comma. On the ACT, if the sentence doesn't require a comma, there shouldn't be one. All you have to do to fix the error is get rid of the comma after "value." The correct answer is H. Dangling Modifiers If you start a sentence with a descriptive phrase, the word following the comma has to be the noun the phrase is describing. Any time you see an introductory phrase that describes a noun, the described noun should come right after the comma. This is an example of a dangling modifier: A writer for PrepScholar, Justin's goal is to help prepare students for ACT success. The introductory phrase is describing "Justin," not his goal. This sentence would fix the dangling modifier: A writer for PrepScholar, Justin hopes to prepare students for ACT success. #6: Eliminate Identical Errors If two answers are functionally identical, they must both be wrong. For example, if there is a question about transitions and two of the answer choices are "furthermore" and "moreover," you can determine that both are wrong because there is no way to differentiate between the two options. If you notice that more than two options are functionally identical, it will be a "Which of the following would not be acceptable?" question. Let's take a look at one of our previous examples: I think maybe I might possibly have met them all. F. NO CHANGE G. perhaps I've H. I've possibly J. I've If you didn't initially notice the redundancy error, you could have started going through the answer choices. Look at choices G and H. There is no real difference between the phrases "perhaps I've met them all" and "I've possibly met them all." Therefore, you would be able to determine that they must both be incorrect, and you can eliminate them. Then, you can compare the two remaining choices. Answer choice J is more concise, maintains the meaning of the original sentence, and it's grammatically correct, so it's the right answer. Rhetorical Skills Tips Now, here are some tips to use for the rhetorical skills questions. #7: All Prose Should Be as Clear as Possible Focus on picking the answer choice that provides all the necessary information and nothing more, in the most straightforward way possible. Here is an actual ACT example for you: While the phrase "being the place in which" doesn't contain a specific grammatical error, it's unnecessarily wordy. Every word or phrase in the passages on the ACT English should serve an essential purpose. This sentence can be more straightforward and concise. The correct answer is C. If we change "being the place in which" to "in which," none of the information in the sentence has changed, but the prose is more clear. #8: You Must Answer the Question You're Being Asked This tip may seem fairly obvious, but thinking about it is helpful when answering rhetorical skills questions. Each question asks you for specific things. Focus on selecting the answer choice that best answers the question instead of picking an answer choice that just seems plausible or sounds right. Here is an example for you: Many students will be stumped on questions like these. Since all the answer choices are true, they'll just randomly pick the choice that sounds formal and complex. Focus on the wording of the question. The correct answer should be the most specific and vivid. The answer choice that paints the clearest image of the underwater terrain will be the right answer. By focusing on what the question is specifically asking, you should be able to determine that the correct answer is A. None of the other answer choices vividly describes the underwater terrain.
